This site is a private sailing blog about SY Takaungu (Lagoon 38). It has no shop, no payments, no newsletter forms, no advertising, and no live AIS tracking.

What this notice covers

How we handle personal data when you visit sailing-takaungu.com. We keep processing small on purpose.

Data when you visit the site (server / hosting)

To deliver the pages, our host processes technical access data. That typically includes:

• IP address
• date and time of the request
• requested URL / resource
• HTTP status code
• amount of data transferred
• referrer (if any)
• browser and device information (user agent)

Purpose: operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in a working, secure site.
Retention: as set by the host’s logs (usually short; we do not build visitor profiles from these logs).

Vercel acts as a processor for hosting this site. Access data may be processed in the United States and other countries where Vercel operates. Vercel states that it participates in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Where needed, transfers rely on that framework and/or other safeguards under Art. 46 GDPR (for example standard contractual clauses in Vercel’s customer terms / DPA).

Cookies and similar technologies

We do not intend to use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics cookies on this site.

The host may use strictly necessary technical measures to deliver the site (for example load balancing or security). Those are not used to profile you for advertising.

If that changes (for example optional analytics), this notice will be updated and, where the law requires it, we will ask for consent first (§ 25 TDDDG / TTDSG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if the message relates to a pre-contractual or contractual matter; otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding).
Retention: as long as needed to handle the conversation, then deleted or archived if a legal retention duty applies.

YouTube embeds (only after you click)

Some pages may offer an optional YouTube video. The player is not loaded automatically. We use a click-to-load approach with the YouTube privacy-enhanced embed domain (youtube-nocookie.com) after you actively choose to play.

Until you click, no YouTube iframe is loaded from this site’s embed UI. After you click, Google/YouTube may receive data such as your IP address, device/browser information, and the fact that you requested the video from this site. Cookies or similar storage may be set by Google depending on your Google/YouTube account and settings. Privacy-enhanced mode reduces some tracking compared with the standard embed, but it does not stop all data transfer to Google.

Purpose: play a video you asked for.
Legal basis: your consent — Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG (access to / storage on your device that is not strictly necessary). You can refuse by not clicking play. You can withdraw consent for the future by not loading further embeds and by clearing cookies / site data in your browser; withdrawal does not affect processing already done.
Transfer to the USA: possible; Google relies on mechanisms such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or other Art. 46 GDPR safeguards — see Google’s privacy policy.

You can also watch the same videos on YouTube itself (channel: Sailing Takaungu) without using the on-site embed.

What we do not do on this site

• No online shop, checkout, or payment processing
• No newsletter or mailing-list forms
• No advertising network on this site
• No intentional marketing / tracking cookies
• No live AIS or continuous vessel location feed on this site

External links (including to YouTube, social profiles, or charts) lead to third-party sites with their own privacy rules.

Your rights (GDPR)

If the GDPR applies to you, you may have the right to:

• data portability (Art. 20)
